I was stopped by Jack's teacher the other afternoon as I picked him up from daycare. She looked at me blankly and asked if I ever went over shapes with him at home. Immediate fear set in. We do go over shapes, but should I be doing more? Was my precious child falling behind? Why haven't I spent more time on shapes with him? This was my fault for being a working mom. I nervously answered that we 'sometimes' reviewed them. Lesson plans were already being formed in my mind.
Then she said, "I thought so. He is the only one in my class who knows all his shapes and colors." And then she smiled.
Whew! I wonder how embarassingly big my smile was as I scooped up my precocious boy in my arms and smothered him with praise. That's MY boy!
